The disciples of Jesus came forward publicly. In Romans 10, the Scripture indicates that we are to confess Jesus Christ and believe in heart. We don’t confess in secret. Confession of faith in Jesus Christ is not something to be held privately. Unless under special circumstances, in some countries or regions, where someone who comes to believe in Jesus Christ, feels it is necessary to preserve their safety for some reason. A believer still must be prepared to maintain their faith in Christ in the face of any persecution. The Bible says, “All that will live godly in Christ shall suffer persecution” (2 Timothy 3:12). Jesus said, “If you are ashamed of me, I Will be ashamed of you before my Father” (Luke 9:26). So unless there are circumstances for reasons of safety where one may want to keep their faith in Jesus Christ privately for the purpose of helping others come to Christ, then our faith in Jesus Christ should not be a matter of secrecy. Jesus commissioned us as Christians to share and preach the gospel into all nations.
